The Singularity is the nickname of one of our primary outreach vehicles, a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV "Trail Boss" Edition pickup truck.  This amazing truck was donated to ENP in 2026, and it has  been an incredible asset for our nature outreach programming, our community assistance program - ENCAP - and our daily errands, and our other adventures in WNC and beyond. 

 

This truck is an absolutely perfect fit for our needs.  It is fully electric, has 470 miles of driving range, tows 10,000lbs, has an enclosed bed with a folding hard shell tonneau cover, and on top of all that awesome – it is a mobile microgrid that can provide loads of electrical power (5vdc, 12vdc, 120vdc, and 240vdc) when and where it is needed!  ​That said, if you ever require our mobile microgrids and/or their utility resources – the truck or the PoD - please do not hesitate to contact us anytime, and we will be there for you with our solar-powered microgrid all-electric services.

 

All of our outreach EVs are fully electric and fueled (charged) primarily from our student-built classroom solar array – or, in the PoDs case, its rooftop solar array.  Therefore, their fuel costs are almost zero for their primary duties.  Even when they need to be charged at home or on the road on the energy mix from the local power grid, their electron fuel cost is only a few cents/mile to drive.  This is an amazing savings for a small nonprofit environmental education outreach organization.   This gives our outreach EVs a minimal environmental and business impact, and they also serve as wonderful renewable energy and EV education teaching tools, inspiring the next generation to be curious, to learn, to think – and hopefully to act above and beyond the status quo as well as fostering far better Leave No Trace (LNT) ethics for our children than past generations.  Read all about our outreach vehicles via this link:  www.earthshinenature.com/outreach-vehicles
